Heavy Metal Screening

Health Canada mandates that cannabis products must be free from harmful levels of heavy metals, which can accumulate in plants from contaminated soil, water, or fertilizers. Heavy metals tested include:

  • Lead (Pb): Known for its musky, earthy scent and sedative properties.

  • Mercury (Hg): A neurotoxin that can accumulate in the body over time.

  • Arsenic (As): A highly toxic metal that can cause serious health issues even in small quantities.

  • Cadmium (Cd): Exposure to arsenic can lead to cancer and other serious health problems.

  • Caryophyllene: Known to cause kidney damage and is a carcinogen.

These metals must be present below specific limits to ensure consumer safety.
